Speaker 1:

Feeling burned out, exhausted and out of sync. This episode is for you. We're talking about how aligning your life with nature's rhythms helps you reset your system and become part of a mutual cycle of healing. Join us on Season 2, episode 18 to learn more. Welcome to Season 2, episode 18 of Give a Fuck, presented by Spark Consciousness. We're dropping knowledge bombs and answering your burning questions about nature, animals, spirituality, mental health, women's empowerment and other profound topics. This podcast probably won't change your life, but hopefully it will give you some food for thought, some guidance on this twisted path we call human existence. My role as an award-winning story keeper and catalyst for healing humanity and Mother Earth is to help you reawaken to your own connection with nature and, through this reconnection, reacquaint you with your intuition. What you do with it, how you incorporate that into your life, is up to you. I hope you'll make changes that benefit both you personally and Mother Earth as a whole. I hope you'll share what you learn here with others and that they'll make different, more compassionate and enlightened choices too. Either way, take what works for you, leave the rest. Always work to be the best version of yourself and try to leave the world a little bit better than it was. When you arrived in the questions section this show, I actually wanted to bounce back to our previous episode, where I interviewed julian and he had given me some tips on how to discover if maybe there was a disconnection between what I thought I believed and what I actually believed, and I promised to report back how that went. So what I discovered was, in checking for those hidden, limited beliefs, what I realized is that I don't 100% trust that the universe has my back. So I am working through that right now because there's clearly, if that's a disconnection, things are never gonna actually work out. And I realized that part of this is related to how I've actually been expecting the universe to meet my needs. To use an analogy, it's kind of like a cake, and I've basically been saying, okay, universe, here is a few of the main ingredients you need to bake a cake, not even giving all of the ingredients, and saying, okay, go make the cake and frost it and make it pretty and it needs to be exactly, exactly exactly as I'm expecting, and then getting pissed off when it's not. Well, that that's never going to work out. Well, right, and so I've realized what I actually need to do is gather all of the ingredients myself, which is a ton of research on whatever the decision is, bake the cake myself, basically meaning put it all together and say this is exactly what I want, and then hand it off to the universe to kind of put the frosting on and basically manifest it. So we're going to see how that goes, but I think it'll be better. We shall see.

Speaker 1:

In the meantime, let's jump into the seitan of our show, and I'm very excited because this is actually our 50th episode, woohoo. So I'm super excited to share with you about how to align your rhythms with nature's rhythms. And there's actually three ways to think about this, and we're going to talk about them all at a higher level and then maybe at some future point in time, if you guys are interested, I will dive into each one a little more deeply. But the three things are yearly in terms of the seasons, monthly, related to the moons, and then daily, relating to the sunrise and the sunset, and so let's break those down a little bit more. So, in terms of yearly, like I said, it's the seasons, and so let's just talk about winter first, because that's kind of where we're at right now. So winter, it's obviously cold right, and so it's associated with the north, because that's where cold often comes from.

Speaker 1:

If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, it's associated frequently with nighttime, with old age, stillness, letting go and also dreaming. And so it's not just this time of silence and lack of action, it's a time to dream and think forward. And what do you want for the future? And dream as big as you want, but don't take any action because you're still supposed to be, still Curl up in a cozy meditation shawl, a cozy blanket, with some tea or some coffee or some cocoa and some big comfy socks, and just dream your little heart out. And just dream your little heart out.

Speaker 1:

And then, in the spring, which is associated with east and the dawn and sun waking up, it's birth and renewal, it's the element of air, it's hope, it's enthusiasm, and this is a time when you can start to think about okay, those dreams you dreamed all winter long, how do you put them into action? And then comes summer, which is associated with the South, which, if you're again, if you're in the Northern Hemisphere, is the strongest sun direction. If you grow plants inside, you know you want South facing windows. And that's the midday sun, it's noon, it's early adulthood. And that's the midday sun, it's noon, it's early adulthood. It's the element of fire and heat, which is all about adding action and passion and creation and creativity to those dreams and those plans that you're now enthusiastic about. Add some fire to them, do the actions, make those big moves and expect big results in return. And then we get to fall. And that's west, as you may have guessed, and it's the sunset. It's mature adulthood, it's autumn, it's obviously we're in that season. It's water and fish, it's wisdom and perspective.

Speaker 1:

So it's time to look back at everything you did over that summer and say, okay, how did that go? What can I learn for that? What can I revisit? How might I change this? How might I do this differently? And then bring that with you into the winter so you can add that to your dreaming stage. So that's the yearly part of aligning yourself with the rhythms of nature. But then we can also look at it more monthly, and so if you're into astrology even a little bit, you're familiar with the idea of working with the moon right and the full moon and the new moon. Both have different significances and different ways that you can use them to help move your life in different directions.

Speaker 1:

So that's definitely one way to think about the moons, but also for my listeners who are um with a uterus, it think of it also as your monthly cycle. Now I get it. It's not exactly like a joyful thing. I have never been a fan of my monthly cycle. Having never wanted to be a mother, I never really saw the point of it. However, what I've come to understand as I'm now exiting the time of my life when I have that monthly visitor, I am realizing that it's also not just about our ability to make life. It's also about a cycle of our own lives and using that time to reconnect to Mother Earth, because Mother Earth is the mother of all of us. And so if you think about it as this time of acknowledging your own motherliness, even if you're not a mom and you don't want to be a mom, you still have the motherliness, just as Mother Earth has motherliness. She nurtures us and cares for all of us, and it's a time to tap into that in your own self. So that's kind of different ways you can look at the month. If you are interested in learning more about the moon phases and how you can work with those, go ahead, and I actually have this cool thing now where you can send me a text. In the show notes there's a link that says send us a text message. Go ahead and send me a text message and I'll be happy to give you some more info about how that actually works, and then on the daily, we actually can look at sunrise and sunset.

Speaker 1:

Now, I recognize in this nine to five world that most people are stuck living in. You can't necessarily get up when you want and go to sleep when you want. I get it. But what we can do is try to be a little more aligned with those cycles of the sun. Now, that's not to say that night owls have no place. They absolutely do. There are plenty of animals in nature that also go to sleep when the sun gets up and get up when the sun goes to sleep right, there are lots of nocturnal animals and you may be a nocturnal human, but that's still aligned with the sun, just in the opposite direction that most of humanity expects you to be in.

Speaker 1:

Both are valid, right, but it's about figuring out where in that cycle, where in that sun cycle, are you most aligned? Do you like to rise when the sun is awake and then go to bed when the sun goes to bed? Or do you want to be kind of more getting up and being active when the sun is awake and then go to bed when the sun goes to bed? Or do you want to be kind of more getting up and being active when the sun is going to sleep and then going to bed when the sun is waking up, doing your best to align with that? And again, I recognize in this nine to five world that is not always possible, but give yourself some grace with it, knowing that we also have these human requirements that we are forced to meet and to deal with. But see if you can figure out where in that cycle of the sun is most aligned for you and try to live as close to it as you can. Right is most aligned for you and try to live as close to it as you can. Right. And maybe that means you change a job. Maybe you are one of those people who wants to be awake when the sun is asleep, so maybe you get a third shift job that would line you up a little better. Right Ideas, play with it, see how it fits into you and your life, because we're all different. We're all different.

Speaker 1:

For me personally, I am very much a. I get up when the sun gets up and I go to bed when the sun goes to bed. And yes, that does shift during the time of year, right, like during the summer. I will definitely stay up later and get up earlier than in the winter because the days are longer in the summer and to me that's okay. And the cool thing is, when you are living aligned with this cycle of the sun, on whichever end of it, things like switching time zones if you're traveling are a lot less dramatic.

Speaker 1:

When I moved across the country and back again, I never once struggled with the time and feeling like I was out of sync with the clock A because I don't pay that much attention to the clock, but B because I wasn't relying on the clock to tell me what time it was or what I was supposed to be doing. I was relying on the sun. And when you do that, you kind of almost automatically line up with the clock Because, as humans, time is something we invented, but we invented it around the sun, so it kind of just worked out by default.
